Gunfire in Devonport:

A peaceful Monday night was suddenly shattered by the sound of gunfire from Devonport Naval base. It appears that the new weapon installations that have been in the news malfunctioned, opening fire on several visiting US military personnel. Two of the visiting soldiers were severely injured and one, identified as Commander Astrid Paige was killed in the crossfire.

Sources report that an expert automated security team from the US has dismantled the base installations, though the New Zealand Navy has given assurances that no members of the public were at any risk from the installations at any time. All visiting US military personnel have been withdrawn from Auckland as bureaucratic investigation into permits continues.

Christmas in the park promises to be an exceptional event this year, with an astounding number of international headline performers.

The line-up includes The Rolling Stones, LMFAO, Linkin Park, One Direction, Usher, Adele, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Metallica, Epica, Bill Bailey, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Cirque de Soleil and the Bolshoi Ballet as well as others in an extended extravaganza.

Pretty much everyone in Auckland as well as many visitors will to be attending, with the entire Auckland domain to be set up with multiple performance stages and super-screens. The concert will also be broadcast live free to air within New Zealand.

A couple of cruise ships are due in port this week. For those who are checking, one of these is the Eternity.
